John T. Couvillion, M.D.

John T. Couvillion, M.D. received his medical degree and ophthalmology specialty training at Tulane University School of Medicine in New Orleans, Louisiana. He then completed a two-year vitreoretinal surgical fellowship at the renowned Cullen Eye Institute at Baylor College of Medicine in Houston, Texas. Dr. Couvillion was also granted a scholarship for additional training in Uveitis at McGill University in Montreal, Canada

Following in his father's footsteps, in 1999 Dr. Couvillion established his own private practice devoted to the diagnosis and treatment of retinal diseases. Dr. Couvillion enjoys sharing his expertise with his patients. Raised in California, Dr. Couvillion and his family are proud to be amongst his family roots in south Louisiana.

Barbara A. Noguchi, M.D.

Barbara A. Noguchi, M.D. is a board-certified ophthalmologist and New Orleans, native. She graduated from high school and college in California before returning to Louisiana where she earned her medical degree and completed her ophthalmology residency, both from Tulane University School of Medicine. Dr. Noguchi completed a vitreoretinal fellowship at the Ochsner Clinic in New Orleans and went on to establish a large retinal practice there. She has also worked in private practice, several VA hospitals in the state of Louisiana, and at the Tulane University Department of Ophthalmology.

Dr. Noguchi is delighted to be working in Baton Rouge at Retina & Vitreous of Louisiana. Here she has found a wonderful fit for her to practice medical retina with the care and integrity that is so important to her.

 

Robert Mason, M.D., M.B.A.

Robert Mason, M.D., M.B.A.

Robert Mason, M.D., M.B.A. is a fellowship-trained, board-certified ophthalmologist, sub-specializing in vitreoretinal surgery with 20 years of experience. Dr. Mason graduated medical school at Columbia University College of Physicians and Surgeons, New York, New York. He went on to complete his Ophthalmology Residency as well as a corneal and external disease fellowship at The University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center in Dallas, Texas. He completed his vitreoretinal surgical fellowship at South Texas Retina Consultants in Corpus Christi, Texas. An M.B.A. was earned at The University of Florida.  Dr. Mason has participated in numerous vitreoretinal research studies. He is a fellow of the American Academy of Ophthalmology and a member of both the American Society of Retina Surgeons and the Vit-Buckle Society.


Jorge Jimenez, M.D.

Jorge Jimenez, M.D. is a fellowship-trained ophthalmologist, sub-specializing in vitreoretinal surgery with several years of experience. Dr. Jimenez completed his undergraduate degree at Millsaps College in Jackson, MS, where he graduated Magna Cum Laude with a B.S. in Biochemistry and a Concentration in Piano Performance. He graduated Medical School from the University of Mississippi Medical Center in Jackson, MS. He stayed at the University of Mississippi Medical Center to continue his training with a Medicine Internship and Ophthalmology Residency, serving as Chief Resident his senior year. He went on to complete his vitreoretinal surgery fellowship at The Ohio State University Medical Center in Columbus, OH.  While here, he served as a co-investigator for multiple retina clinical trials. He also served as Clinical Assistant Professor and was closely involved in the clinical and surgical education of residents. Dr. Jimenez has participated in numerous community outreach campaigns including organizing and participating in glaucoma screenings at the Jackson Free Clinic and Jackson Capitol Screening Initiatives. He has also participated in numerous vitreoretinal research studies, which include book chapters, posters at meetings, and a primary author publication. Dr Jimenez is a fellow of the American Academy of Ophthalmology, American Society of Retina Surgeons, Vit-Buckle Society, American Medical Association, and The Association for Research in Vision and Ophthalmology. Additionally, Dr Jimenez is a classically trained pianist and self-taught accordionist and loves to play music in his free time. He is proficient in Spanish with a Medical Spanish background.
