Farsightedness – Hyperopia

Farsightedness, or hyperopia, is when light enters the eye and focuses behind the retina rather than directly on it. Farsightedness occurs when you have a flatter cornea or an eye with a shorter length than the normal eye. Farsightedness (hyperopia) can cause difficulty in seeing close up.

Farsightedness can manifest as blurred vision, eye fatigue, poor reading ability, difficulty seeing up close, eye strain, and in some cases, crossed eyes.

Hyperopia can be diagnosed using a simple technique called refraction. Contact lenses or glasses are the most popular type of treatment. Adults may also consider refractive surgery.
